After the appointments of a new Head Teacher and full-time teacher, Northland Kindergarten Association are now seeking another passionate teacher to join the teaching team at Te Timatatanga o Te Mātauranga Kindergarten, Otangarei, Whangarei. This 20-hour per week position, will have varying daily hours, beginning 8 January 2025.

Te Timatanga o Te Matauranga operates as an All-Year Model. Teaching staff benefit from 30 days Annual Leave and 15 Professional Time days per year along with 4 non-contact hours per week in this part time position. NKA offer excellent professional development budgets and staff have opportunity to apply for annual scholarships and wellness initiatives. NKA welcomes third year students and runs an excellent mentoring programme for PCT’s.

This is an opportunity to work amongst a close-knit team dedicated to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and upholding ngā tamariki māori learning success. The collective pedagogical approach is grounded in manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, respect and care.

If you are a qualified and registered ECE teacher or in your third year of study for an ECE qualification, are skilled in establishing and maintaining authentic and professional relationships with tamariki, whānau and colleagues, are self-motivated, show initiative and able to work collaboratively, and wish to work amongst a team of dedicated kaiako and staff, we would love to hear from you.

Te Timatatanga o Te Mātauranga has 3.5 teachers, a part-time administrator, and a cook. This kindergarten operates five 6-hour sessions Monday to Friday catering for 30 children between two and six years of age.

Te Timatatanga o Te Mātauranga Kindergarten is part of a network of 25 kindergartens within the NKA. The kindergarten is supported by a professional practice and management team. NKA adheres to the employment conditions as offered in the Kindergarten Teacher, Head Teachers, and Senior Teachers Collective Agreement 2023-2026.  

Applicants must hold a recognised New Zealand ECE qualification (minimum Dip Teaching ECE), current practicing certificate and first aid certificate.
