Summary
Northland Kindergarten Association (NKA) is looking to add an Early Intervention Teacher (EIT) to the team based at Head Office. The purpose of the EIT is to provide effective, efficient, and equitable early intervention services for the benefit of tamariki with additional learning needs in accordance with the goals, objectives and policies of NKA.
Role Overview
This role will provide:
· Support transition points in the tamaiti learning pathway such as transition into kindergarten and to school as required
· Provide high quality learning support to whānau and kindergartens, in accordance with Te Whāriki: Early Childhood Curriculum and NKA policies
· Support and strengthen the skills of kaiako & Education Support Workers (ESW’s), to enhance inclusive practices and effectively support the tamaiti learning
· Attend individual development plan (IDP) meetings alongside key stakeholders (kindergarten team, ministry, whānau, etc.) providing professional support, ensuring whānau / kaiako voices and aspirations are heard and catered to
· Support the development, implementation and evaluation of specialist intervention plans
· Provide professional support and guidance
· Provide support that is culturally responsive and protects the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Requirements
Applicant Requirements:
· A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood)
· Post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or to be working towards this position
· A minimum of three years’ teaching experience
· Sound working knowledge of Te Whāriki: Early Childhood Curriculum
· Strong inclusive early childhood pedagogical knowledge and effective teaching practices
· Deep knowledge of tamaiti development, learning and behaviour for typical and atypical tamariki
· Familiar with a range of early childhood philosophies
· Skills in coaching and supporting adult learning
· Understanding of a range of diversity and their implications
· Working knowledge of a range of inclusive, assessment and intervention frameworks.
· Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships in order to partner effectively
