Welcome to Hurupaki Kindergarten
Hurupaki Kindergarten is nestled beneath the majestic Hurupaki Mountain and beside the Hurupaki Primary School in Three Mile Bush Road, Kamo. Our enrolled families come from Kamo and the surrounding rural areas as well as from other parts of Whangarei.
We have four full time, fully qualified and fully registered Teachers - Dene Cheeseman (Head Teacher), Jo Atkins, Christine Meek and Annette Eastgate - and a part time Administrator - Lisa Johnstone - all with current first aid certificates. We have a low teacher to child ratio of 1:10.
Our hours are:
Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and Friday 8.30 am to 12.45 pm
Or
Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 2.30 pm and Friday 8.30 am to 12.45 pm
or a mixture of both.
We are in the process of transitioning from a sessional kindergarten to an six hour day kindergarten. There will be a transitional period as we move children from the afternoon sessions into the morning sessions as spaces become available. Please feel free to still put your child on the waiting list and we will let you know when we will be starting new children again in our sessions.
We have a lovely well resourced Kindergarten with lots of outdoor space for your child to run around in. The programme offered at Hurupaki Kindergarten is child initiated and focuses on the children’s strengths and interests within a safe, fun and nurturing environment. We have a passion for Active Movement and run a Perceptual Motor Programme in our morning sessions to assist the children to consolidate foundation skills that will lead them to being ready for the formal learning environment of school. We have a close relationship with our Kindergarten community and with the Hurupaki Primary School.
